At about 8:00 on November 1st, 2017 a three-car accident occurred along East 42nd Street, east of Franklin Road. Driver Error is being listed as a possible cause for this chain reaction accident according to the Lawrence Police Department. The LPD believe that one vehicle traveling westbound on 42nd Street had stopped but the driver following behind that vehicle did not and swerved into the eastbound lane after striking said vehicle ahead. Four of the people involved sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to St. Vincent Hospital. The road had been closed for an hour for investigation and cleanup.
