An Evansville woman was killed in an automobile accident in Vanderburgh County Monday night, August 11, 2014.
The sheriff’s office stated that 87-year-old died in the accident. It happened at approximately 9:15 Monday night at the intersection of Diamond Avenue and St. Joseph Road.
Deputies say Cole was crossing Diamond Avenue from northbound St. Joseph Road when she was hit by a truck, driven by 21-year-old, heading eastbound Diamond. The truck hit the driver’s side door of the car and pushed it into the median. The truck continued through the median and into the westbound lanes of Diamond where it stopped.
Finke was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for complaint of pain. The sheriff’s office says died on the scene. Deputies both drivers were wearing seatbelts and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
