A 2-vehicle crash on the Indiana Toll Road one mile east of the Chesterton exit left 5 people from Chicago, including a 16-year-old girl , injured, Indiana State Police said.
A Toyota driven by Aida Vasquez, of Chicago, veered right but struck the right side of the SUV. Vasquez’s Toyota then hit a guard rail.
A 16-year-old girl who was a back seat passenger in Vasquez’s Toyota was airlifted from the scene and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with internal injuries, police said.
Vasquez and 3 other passengers were taken to hospitals.
