A student of Western Boone Jr.-Sr. High School died in a head-on crash on March 1, 2018, while traveling with two other students to J. Everitt Light Career Center. Officers were dispatched to the area of County Road 250 West and State Road 32 that morning to investigate the collision. One of the Western Boone High School students was a driving a 2007 white Ford Focus to the school with two other students. According to the investigating officers, a 2003 gray Acura crossed over into the eastbound lane, for unknown reasons, and struck the white Ford Focus head-on. One of the high school students was sitting in the back of the Ford Focus and was wearing a seatbelt, she was transported from the scene and pronounced dead at Methodist Hospital. The other two passengers of the white Ford Focus and the driver of the gray Acura were additionally transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The Boone County F.A.C.T. team are still investigating the accident, and do not believe that drugs and/or alcohol are involved.
