The Boone County Sherriff’s Department has confirmed one death as a result of a head-on collision on State Road 47.  The collision occurred around 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 9 near 6100 E. State Road 47 just east of Elizaville.  The Sherriff’s Department said that they received calls of a small black car headed eastbound on State Road 47 that was swerving across lanes of travel. When the Sheriff’s Department responded, a second 911 call stated that the vehicle had crashed.  The deputies that arrived pulled the driver out of a black Chrysler 200, and after performing CPR the driver was rushed to Witham Hospital, where the driver was pronounced dead.  The Sheriff’s Department says the other driver involved was from Arizona, who was traveling westbound on State Road 47 when the driver noticed that a black Chrysler 200 was heading eastbound towards the driver and appeared to be swerving.  The black Chrysler 200 then drove off the south side of the roadway, over-corrected and fishtailed into the driver from Arizona, who was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital for minor injuries.  On Saturday, March 9, State Road 47 was closed between Elizaville and US 421 during an investigation by the Boone County FACT team who continue their investigation into what caused the driver of the black Chrysler 200 to travel off the roadway.
