As a result of a hit and run on July 6, 2020, police are seeking the driver who ran into two protesters in Bloomington. The two protestors were part of a larger group in Bloomington that was out protesting the lack of arrests of the men that attempted to lynch a black man at Monroe Lake in Bloomington on Saturday, July 4, 2020. During the protest, a vehicle approached the protesters and began to revive its engine. One of the protesters explained to the driver of the vehicle that they were leaving but was told by the driver and her passenger that they wanted drive through right away. The driver proceeded to drive forward, pushing another protester onto the hood of her car, while the protestor that had spoken to her held on trying to make her stop. The protestor that was struck by the car was taken to the hospital.
The summer of 2020 has been filled with protests, many on major roads in cities across the nation. Some drivers, however, for any number of reasons, do not seem to have any patience for large groups of people protesting in the streets, and in an attempt to force them to move may hurt them and others in the process.
