A wrong-way collision that occurred on March 7, 2020, may have been caused by a drunk driver.  The collision happened on I-65 just after 9 P.M.  The Indiana State Police had received calls about a white Kia Sportage that witnesses say was traveling the wrong way on I-65 in Clark County. The vehicle eventually turned west onto I-265 and continued in the wrong direction in the eastbound lanes.  Later the police received multiple reports of a collision that involved the same Sportage and another vehicle in Floyd County.  The preliminary investigation into the collision found that the Sportage was still driving the wrong way when it struck the other vehicle.  The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The motorist’s son, a passenger in the vehicle was taken to Norton Children’s Hospital where he later died, as did a second passenger. Another child that was a passenger in the vehicle is presently in an unknown condition at Norton Children’s Hospital.  The police believe that the driver of the Sportage may have been operating his vehicle while intoxicated and the collision is still under investigation.

As winter ends and Indiana moves into the spring season, the days will become longer.  And for many people, this will be a time to celebrate with alcohol. Unfortunately, many drivers will not think about whether they are too intoxicated to driver safety before getting behind the wheel.    If you or someone you know has been injured or killed by the negligence of another motorist operating their vehicle while intoxicated, please contact the experienced legal team at Schiller Law Offices at 888-578-3100 or at IndyInjured.com to learn more about your potential right to compensation.
